Exactly like the old styleI ordered these because I used to own the same pair that Kabir Kouba used to make. Laurentian Chief did an excellent job at keeping everything the exact same down to the same stitching. You can tell they are just as durable and the Caribou is extremely soft and comfortable. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for something comfortable and high-quality.
Caribou moccasin. The caribou leather is uniquely soft and extremely comfortable. Unlike moose or deerskin leathers, your feet do not perspire when wearing caribou. However, there are a couple of shortcomings that need to be corrected in this moccasin. The circle eight stitching on the bottom of the soles is unnecessary. It is unattractive and tends to make the soles stiff. Overtime the stitching will begin to unravel. Also, the inner lining inside the vamp and the toe area of the main portion of the moccasin are not stitched into the vamp seem. The lining from the sides and the inner vamp are cut short and are merely glued into place. Over time, they tend to loosen thus causing your feet to rub against the loosened leather. Once these deficiencies are corrected Laurentian Chief will have the perfect moccasin.
