The colour burgundy is having a moment.
Bolder than brown but subtler than scarlet, burgundy is a seasoned, deep red that conjures feelings of warmth and comfort. Named after the Burgundy vineyards of France, it embodies the shade of Pinot Noir grapes used to make the famous, full-bodied wines of that region.
Burgundy has been showing up in fashion, textiles, and accessories throughout Fall 2024, and has now made its way into women’s Kayak Cozy Moccasins by Manitobah.
The Kayak Moccasin combines the richness of burgundy with the luxury of suede leather, the plushness of fleece, and gorgeous beaded details. They are cool-weather moccasins, designed to keep your feet extra comfortable when the temperature drops. The fleece interior is gentle and warm against bare skin, creating a down-like cushion underfoot. The burgundy suede is accented on its classic vamp with a stunning beadwork motif created by Oji-Cree bead artist, Meagan Anishinabie. Caramel-coloured rawhide laces add contrast and adjustability. The outsole features Manitobah’s signature rubber Turtle design, crafted for durability and support. Kayak Cozy Moccasins can be used as indoor house shoes or gently worn outside.

Meagan Anishinabie is an Oji-Cree artist from Sandy Lake First Nation in northern Ontario. She learned the art of beadwork from her Kookum Minda and has become an incredible bead artist in her own right. Each item that Meagan creates is a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
